Blog 8: Television Changed My Family Forever (Definition of terms)

Before the television was brought up to Linda’s family, everything was cool and simple. For one thing, they eat their dinner at the dining table. She even sets and clears the dining table after they eat. Also, they talk to each other and take their time doing it. Another is that, before television, she would lie in bed at night listening to her parents coming upstairs, entering their bedroom and saying things to one another; “their voices rocked me to sleep”, she said. Her parents do talk with her in going to sleep. In the kitchen, she could even still hear the rolling cadence of their speech, the rising and falling of their voices and the sound of chips. In addition, her parents do read books. Her dad buys Perry Mason books and her mom has her own library card for her to take her favorite books. Meanwhile, her mom takes her to movies or play baseball with her dad. They enjoy each other’s company. Lastly, during holidays she enjoys with the rest of the family. She goes out and plays with her cousins and looks at the fireworks set up on their neighbor’s yard.

  1. Before the Television came,I agree with you that family had enough time for each other listening and talking about the whole day activity.
